Verified ReviewerHung up on me banned for life due to a retaliatory allegation they failed to investigate
Guest knowingly laid false allegation claiming I had video camera which in actuality was a momento adorned to a piece of walk art a lid from the last gift my mom gave who has passed away a cologne bottle lid. She threatened to report me and claimed it illegal in in the face of factual truth and evidence it posed no rush or harm.
She first claimed it was because my bathroom was not compatible left with no communication. I had addressed this concern some ten days prior stemming from a question she asked about the bathroom wanting to know if it's pvt. I only have one it is shared. I suggested she find another listing better suited to fit her needs and stated if she cancelled I would fully refund however that was written in the context that there was still a large enough window had she done this I very well would have found another booking.
She did not respond. She arrived on check in date aome week later and then did exactly what I had foresaw all along and left claiming the bathroom as why. She had taken my keys so upon returning after being informed she was on the hook for cancellation charges was then when she made this alleged claim I quickly dispelled in which she instead of apologizing for got angry and mad and started threatening to have me reported. She did just that and I was punished severely for doing nothing but trying to accomodate a crazy guest who failed to see I had already stuck my neck out for her once so she could correct a mistake she made in booking from failing to read my listing and he failed to even read the answer to her question that would have provided us both the best out and now 8m out of a means of earning money because airbnb banned me for life because they couldbt be bothered to ask 1 question or call me during the investigation and resorted to suspend me punish me and ban me for life over this ridiculous ordeal.
Six months later still fighting to be heard and listened to. Finally pressing charges against the guest and airbnb just hung up ob me when I asked for her last name to provide to police report that I should have filed six months ago instead of trusting them

Verified Reviewer | Reseda, CaliforniaThe customer service is the worst I have experienced.
you may be speaking or texting with a human but the intelligence is definitely artificial. all they do is sit there and google things and send you links that have nothing to do with your problem.
They take hours to accomplish nothing. the app used to be intuitive for the people who own the properties to post and now its terrible and doesn't give you options it had in the past.
Every time I have an issue I have to expect that it will take a week or more to be rectified.

All the customer service I called always trying to shirk responsibility and bargaining in various forms. This is not what Airbnb should be doing!
We drove twenty hours from Los Angeles to Portland for a happy trip, not to get hurt! I trusted Airbnb so much that I booked this damned house! Now, they are wasting my time again and again because I trusted Airbnb, trying not to give the right answer. Airbnb should return the full amount not just Constantly bargaining with guests.I have said it before, my friend was dissatisfied when she just entered, but considering that I booked it, they didnt want to embarrass me.
So, even though they called, they didn't say anything face to me. We endured various problems, but the bed actually broke and injured my husbands back. Up to now, airbnb haven't said a word about it or shown any concern! Airbnb just trying to play games and find every way to avoid responsibility!
The manager cant call because of the time, but the customer service can call me at eleven or twelve at night to bargain! The attitude towards guests is simply ridiculous! I said Let the highest person who really care about customer call me +190********! Let the person who work at USA call me.
Not Indonesia!
But until right now. Nobody cares!
- Should care about customer more than money
Preferred solution: Airbnb said 270+300. But if you watch the videos, should return the full refund. Each day’s 30%. Only care about money! At least should return 3days and the cleaning fee and the Airbnb service fee shouldn’t count

Verified ReviewerComplaint
I received emails from Airbnb asking me to review my stay by 9/30. On 9/30, I tried to write the review and it said it had expired.
I called customer service and they said it had expired at the time of check out. Nowhere in the numerous emails requesting me to write a review was a time given, only a date. Customer service said there was nothing they could do, even though it was just a matter of hours.
They would not provide me with an email address where I could point out that the emails do not state any specific time. I would like to leave a review of my 3-night stay.

Verified ReviewerPrivacy in AirBNB's
I recently stayed in a host home, renting a room. I found out after I left that hidden cameras with voice recordings were on the entire time I was there.
The hosts even admitted this although it stated no surveillance devices were on the property. All my conversations, which had to do with very personal information, were recorded. This was in Florida, and Florida is a two-party consent state, so this is a felony. I contacted Airbnb and all they did was issue a 50% refund.
Airbnb has turned into Ghetto BnB. They never post any bad reviews or true reviews that can hurt the host because this is how they make their money. Stay away from Airbnb now.
Stay away from renting any Airbnb's; you risk having your privacy invaded. It's disturbing to know.
- Do not screen the host or post negative reviews
Preferred solution: A full refund and the host removed from airbnb

Verified ReviewerAccount Closed but Refund needed
Hello! I recently created an account with Airbnb and made a reservation but needed to cancel it.
I opted to get credit instead of a refund so I could make a different reservation immediately because a refund would take a few days. However, there was some sort of technical difficulty and I was unable to make a new reservation. I contacted customer support about it and they closed my account due to a felony on my background record. So, since I can no longer book any reservation on Airbnb, I need a refund for the credit given since I will never be able to use it.
If this is not your department, could you please forward this issue to the correct place as I am unable to speak to a customer service representative to help me process this refund. Thanks!
- Cheaper than hotels
- Too many potential problems and bad customer support
Preferred solution: Full refund
User's recommendation: DO NOT OPT TO GET BOOKING CREDIT for a cancelled reservation. You will not be able to use the credit and Airbnb will not refund your money. They are giving me the run around and pretending they don’t understand my issue so they can steal my money for my cancelled reservation.

Verified ReviewerJust Another Slumlord on Airbnb
On 2/29/2024, my wife and I booked an Airbnb property listed by Amadi, located in the DC area from 3/15 to 3/18. Upon arrival, we found the driveway covered in water and algae.
The door code provided did not work; therefore, each time we needed to enter, we had to buzz the host. Once inside, we found a filthy property and as evidence, took as many pictures as possible to present to Airbnb. It was so bad that my wife and I decided to stay at a Hilton, paying over $300 in the city center because of it, as the Airbnb-hosted property we were staying at was unacceptable, to put it lightly! Spider webs and cigarette ashes were in the bathroom, a sticky yellowish substance was on the kitchen drawers, items from the previous guest were left on the nightstand, dishes and a food strainer that had not been cleaned were put back in the cabinet, and an oily greasy substance was on the bedspread.
We had two bath towels, one ripped, the other with either a blood or *** stain, among other things, none of which were pictured in the host's listing. Yes, we fell into just another well-documented Airbnb trap with no way out, as the host's policy was 'Non-Refundable!' Fed up with the host's non-responsiveness and difficulty accessing the property, I contacted Airbnb customer support. Their response was, 'Contact the host!' I find this absurd as I got absolutely nowhere.
To list this property with the appearance of being 'Nice & Cozy' when it was filthy, and charge a $75 cleaning fee when it was anything but, is wrong. Therefore, I have involved the Missouri and California Attorney General's Offices!

- You name it
Preferred solution: Full refund

To warn people about how miserable staying in an Airbnb is
If you ever have to stay in an AIRBNB find another alternative to one. I decided to stay in 3 different ones over the past 5 months after I sold my house because I am single with no family to stay with and have been looking for another house in the meantime in a better area then where I was living.
First AIRBNB full of bugs the first night. I mentioned something to the host, and she communicated to her daughter in Spanish. The text she sent meant for her was sent to me and when I translated it wasn't nice what she said about me. She did call an exterminator, but there were still bugs the whole time I stayed.
The window AC unit never did not cool the area where I stayed. It was miserable. I moved to another I had booked for 3 weeks. I ended up cancelling after one day.
The host were already offering me to stay permanently for $900 a month, and I wasn't looking for anything permanent. I hated the parking there. It was hot in the house and the host never asked if I needed anything. She seemed only concerned about the money that first day, so I moved on after staying a week.
Then the worst one of all actually where I am currently staying. They didn't list they had two dogs and a toddler that runs back and forth across the ceiling and bangs and beats and screams and cries day and night. The couple beats, bangs, stomps all day above me on the ceiling the same. I don't think they ever leave.
I sleep on their time if I'm lucky between midnight and about 6 am. They have stomped so much that they are not aware of the ceiling tiles above me falling apart. They have taken me for granted and no longer ask me if I need anything like toilet paper or paper towels, so I end up buying my own. The dryer was broken for a week and they took it apart before they got the part and left it unusable.
I'm fed up with this one for I have stayed at it the longest because I haven't found another one that's near this location. A safe part of town. I also hate the street parking because my car stays covered with sap, birds and dragonflies use for a toilet, neighbor blows grass all over it, and I'm afraid it might get hit in the street. I currently have a house under contract and hope and pray I can close on it in a few weeks because I am going insane and broke.
AIRBNB needs to be shut down permanently!
They stink and the hosts stink and only care how much money they get from you. You are only an ATM to them!!

I made a reservation 2 months in advance and paid for it a few hours after checking in. My wife, my two daughters, and I were forced to leave by Airbnb with no explanation. They simply stated that they oversaw my hotel stay for a day and would issue me a refund, which I haven't received yet.

Verified ReviewerMisleading pictures and dirty house
Dear Airbnb Customer Support,I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with my recent rental experience in Halifax (Reservation Code HMMHMHZS4D. Location 21 Bald Eagle, Halifax NS).
Despite the property's prime location near downtown and its quiet neighborhood, I encountered several issues that severely impacted my stay.Upon arrival, I noticed that the property was neglected and did not match the pictures provided on the listing. Specifically:- The walls were damaged and filthy, in desperate need of fresh paint.- The steps and veranda leading to the front entrance were in a poor state, with a half-full bag of ice melt salt still present, which is unnecessary in June.- I had to clean all the light switches and door handles due to dirt and finger marks.- Many window coverings were either missing or broken.- The back porch, unlike the pictures, requires a good paint job.- The kitchen cabinets, shown as oak or walnut in the listing, were painted a bright royal blue color.- The kitchen table has been covered with contact paper (Mack tack) which is now peeling off. When I raised these concerns with the host, the response was dismissive and unsatisfactory: 'Thank you for your advice, because the guests will cause some damage to the house when they enjoy themselves, and because of the peak season, the orders are full, so the maintenance is not timely enough, please understand.' I find this response unacceptable. When I raised the issue again with the host, the reply was a breakdown of all the expenses incurred in running this business, i.e. taxes, water and electricity costs, etc.My request to the host for a partial refund has been denied. My reasons for a refund are that the property was not as advertised.
I paid for a well-maintained and clean home, but this is not what I received. The home listed on the Airbnb website is misleading and not as advertised. I felt very uncomfortable during my entire stay, and the fact that the house was filthy made a negative difference to my otherwise nice vacation.Upon request, I will provide you with pictures confirming that my complaint is justified.I have been a loyal Airbnb customer with several upcoming reservations, but this experience left me feeling that I paid far too much for what I received.
The misleading photos and the lack of proper maintenance and cleanliness are unacceptable.I would appreciate a partial refund to compensate for the discrepancies and inconveniences faced during my stay.Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to your prompt response.Best regards,{{Redacted}}@***.com819-329-****

Verified ReviewerResolved: Urgent Complaint: Issues with Airbnb Support and Unjustified Blocking of My Experience
Company fixed the issue and I have been provided with apology. Problem solved
After a long wait and numerous attempts to communicate with the support team, I received a response stating that my insurance was not adequate and that a specific 'maritime insurance' was required. However, in Portugal, there is no insurance with such a designation. Portuguese insurers offer exactly the types of insurance I have already submitted to Airbnb, which are fully legal and valid for operating my business.
I have been trying to resolve this situation for more than 20 days. I have sent several emails, made more than 10 phone calls, and the only response I receive is to 'wait.' The chat with the support team has been unhelpful, with automated or empty responses, without any concrete solution. This incompetence on the part of the support team is causing me daily financial losses, as I cannot operate my experience and am losing customers and revenue.
I demand that Airbnb resolve this situation immediately. As a partner who generates significant revenue for the platform through the commissions paid on each experience sold, I feel disrespected and undervalued by the lack of response and solution. If my insurance is legal and valid in Portugal, and there is no clarity on what type of 'maritime' insurance is required, Airbnb needs to recognize and accept the documents I have already provided, or give clear and feasible instructions.
I am awaiting an urgent response and the immediate reactivation of my experience. It is unacceptable that a long-term partner is treated this way. I will continue to expose this situation until it is resolved.

Verified ReviewerAirbnb Not as Advertised
We found a location in Los Angeles that would be perfect for part of our family vacation. Upon arriving, we found the place to be unsafe, unsanitary, and unclean.
One of the doors to the townhome had a lock on the outside, preventing us from securing it, and there were no blinds on the bedroom door. The balcony rail was not attached and seemed like it could fall off. There was dirt, filth, and grease on the stove, food particles on table mats, hair in the drain, and grime throughout. I could not stay there for more than 15-25 minutes.
I immediately called Airbnb and submitted pictures of all these issues to verify my claims. I spent an hour on the phone in one session trying to resolve the issue, and it took them two days to offer me 'ONLY a PARTIAL REFUND.' Considering that this host misrepresented their home's condition online versus its reality and overlooked other safety measures, I feel that Airbnb did very little to remedy my situation as their guest. If I hadn't insisted on numerous customer service calls, I doubt I would have even received a partial refund. We lost time, a place to stay on our vacation, and money to a host who wrongly took a day's worth of funds from me.
The eye-opening aspect is that I have been rated as a super guest at every other Airbnb I have stayed at until now.
I feel very disappointed and taken advantage of for more than $300+, for a place I was never able to stay in due to the reasons mentioned above. Renters beware, Airbnb does very little to support you when things go wrong!
- Better options to stay than at hotels with a family

Place smelled like smoke. Two cleaning people were sent over two days and i decided to stay became at least I know the unit was now cleaned. They refunded 205. For cleaning fees and Airbnb refund 300 after i payed 1600.00 including insurance.
The owners refused to refund anything. Look at the photos.

Verified ReviewerLocation infested with cockroaches, Airbnb refused to refund
I rented a location for 7 nights which had cockroaches, no working air conditioning, and a neighbor begging to run an extension from our unit to his because he had no electricity for his refrigerator. We left after the first night, sent a cockroach pic to Airbnb customer service, and they would only refund 2 nights stay, said there wasn't enough evidence of the problems.
Cockroaches run when you turn on the lights, making it very difficult to take pics! Very disappointed in Airbnb customer service and of course the host left a very negative review of me.

Verified ReviewerAttempt to Resolve Issues
I have made several attempts to resolve an issue with a stay at a reservation. There were two issues.
One of the issues was resolved and the other has not been addressed. Each time I contact customer service the representatives get to the solved issue and see the resolution status and shut down on me without fully understanding the second issue. I have multiple responses of escalating the second issue by Airbnb staff, but I have never been contacted.
Is there a way to talk to a person capable of resolving the second issue? This concerns $1900.
I have booked 8 stays with Airbnb this year. I feel like I am a good customer.

First of all, I would never do an Airbnb myself for this exact reason. And to tell you the truth, I see both sides of it because I'll be *** if somebody comes into my house and I'm not knowing what's going on.
