I accidentally booked a property with Caterina House via Airbnb and cancelled within less than one minute. No service was provided, no check-in occurred, and the host suffered no actual loss.
Despite EU consumer protection law (Directive 2011/83/EU) and my polite requests, the host refused a full refund. Airbnb confirmed that the refund decision is solely with the host, but their response has been unhelpful. I am sharing this complaint publicly to alert future customers and to request a fair resolution.

It was an unpleasant experience to request additional cleaning and to address the damages. The treats, warnings, rudeness, and false accusations are shocking for a company of this caliber.
The top managers, Beth and Timothy, should be seriously retrained or dismissed.
In the meantime, I have frozen my website due to the repairs and the unfortunate unprofessional behavior of your company. Sincerely

Have you requested proof of ownership from them? What should I do in this situation?

Been trying to complete my reservation and I'm not used to this. I'm new at this, and for some reason, they said my account has expired.
I did because I keep changing and looking for places, but I didn't know I'm adding stuff to my reservation without paying. I don't know; I'm not sure what happened.

RIPPED OFF. We reserved a house for mid November in mid October.
A day and a half later we cancelled to schedule for later. Airbnb and host charged credit card and only returned $400 and kept $1200!
When we requested a refund the host blocked us and Airbnb said they could not help us. This is beyond infuriating!

I booked a property in Hua Hin, Thailand through Airbnb with host Balaji. Shortly after booking, serious safety concerns arose, making it impossible for me to travel.
I immediately contacted Airbnb to cancel, but both the host and Airbnb refused to refund my 900, hiding behind their cancellation policy. In my opinion, this is not just bad customer service it is profiting from unsafe situations.
To make things worse, the property is still listed as available for January, even though my booking was never honored.
This raises serious questions about whether this is an intentional scam to collect money without providing the stay. I have opened over 18 chats with Airbnb, yet they keep closing my case without resolution.
Travelers, beware: if you book with Balaji in Hua Hin, you may risk losing your money and getting no support from Airbnb.

I reached out due to false advertising. Apartment pictures Airbnb are nice.
Dwelling surroundings is by poverty homes, unpaved roads, and it looks unsafe. The apartment keys were hard to retrieve the owner had her help me get into lockbox. The bath has ants, toilet has a leak, the apartment is upstairs, and description does not specify. Also, there is no hot water to shower in 60 degree weather.
The entrance door does not secure with key. This has been a bad experience.
Awful location dirt road. It looks unsafe.i expected a nicer neighborhood for the price I paid for the Airbnb.

Here is its latest nonsensical twist: When a host lies about an alleged discrimination, leaving out details about its part in provoking the whole matter, Airbnb doesn't investigate. They don't ask for context.
They don't care about truth. They just deactivate your account and move on no dialogue, no due process, no dignity. PS: I'm still trying to figure out, exactly how does a guest discriminate against a host? I suspect that even Airbnb doesn't know, just falsely and recklessly throwing around descriptors without a proper context or meaning.
I mean, did I somehow withhold something from the host, for a particular reason or favor one host over the next? I know it sounds crazy. Airbnb now strikes again given that in the recent past it demonstrated blatantly that its operation is more about policy than it's about safety. Airbnb sends travelers into foreign environments with zero preparation for even the most basic sanitary realities.
In some countries (Philippines), guests are expected to discard used toilet paper in open trash bins rather than flush it. No warning. No guidance. Just weeks of breathing in the fumes of soiled tissue in a sealed room, because Airbnb couldn't be bothered to flag the health risks or cultural expectations.
That's not just unsanitary it's negligent! Airbnb's support channels are performative. Their policies are rigid to the point of cruelty. And their so-called community standards are weaponized against guests who dare to speak up.
I wasn't just mistreated I was erased. If you think I'm going to remain silent, Airbnb has got the wrong one. Travelers deserve platforms that prioritize truth, safety, and dignity.
Airbnb isn't one of them. If you're a traveler who values truth, fairness, and respect, look elsewhere Airbnb has lost the plot.

Company fixed the issue and I have been provided with apology. After weeks of dealing with incompetent agents at airbnb and not getting anywhere I disputed the charge with my bank then Airbnb refunded my money.
The listing is in Vlore Albania. Hosted by Massimilliano,Roberto. Seaview Apartment. I had to dispute the charge with my bank.
The address is Rruga Aleksander Moisiu,Vlore,Qarku I Vlores 9426 Albania.
I am writing to request a refund for an Airbnb reservation I made on December 17th 2024 for the property located at Seaview Apartment in Vlore, Albania. (See attached receipt)
The Airbnb host failed to provide the accommodation as described on the platform, including a significant discrepancy in amenities. Furthermore, the host exhibited unprofessional and unresponsive behavior, including:
Misrepresentation of Amenities: The listing advertised a stainless steel oven. After booking and it is non-refundable I get a message there is no oven it is broken.
Inaccurate Photos: The photos provided by the host after booking did not accurately reflect the actual property.
Hostile Communication: The host became unresponsive and aggressive when I inquired about discrepancies.
Failure to Provide Check-in Instructions: Despite repeated requests, the host failed to provide timely check-in instructions, forcing me to secure alternative accommodations at my own expense.
I have attempted to resolve this issue directly with the host and through Airbnb's platform, but all attempts have been unsuccessful.
Airbnb has declined to intervene or hold the host accountable for their actions.
The host did not send me check-in instructions until four hours after my check in time. And I dont even know if those are the correct check-in instructions why he could not do that the day before, or sooner when I kept asking him is deceitful, and not following his guidelines he has in his listing.
I have attached copies of the following as evidence:

Communication history with the host
Photos of the property as listed and the actual property (if available)
Receipt for alternative accommodations (if applicable)
I kindly request that you investigate this matter and initiate a chargeback for the amount of $479.92 paid for this Airbnb reservation.

I was making a reservation for my niece and her boyfriend; they had one day off work with no kids and I wanted to give them a small gift of a getaway. I was rejected by the host because the reservation was for someone else.
What kind of gift is it when the recipient has to take time out of WORK to make a reservation and pay for it THEMSELVES?
I replied that it was ridiculous and got a snotty reply from the host. I have had problems EVERY time I try to reserve something; I have since deactivated my account.

I have an Airbnb that was being handled by my son. When I switched it over to my name and my account, Airbnb shut me out.
I contacted Airbnb with no help whatsoever. My son then created another Airbnb so that we could continue to have the property listed for rent. Once again, they shut me out because it was closely related. This time I could understand.
The first time I did not understand; they deposited one penny into my account the first time. The problem is here: when you get on the phone with their customer service, they have no help whatsoever, telling me they can't verify my phone number or email address. Very frustrating.
How are you to get any help with this company? Calling customer care got me absolutely nowhere.
