I recently entered into a contract with Airbnb to rent a condo in Cozumel for a long stay, three months. The contract has, as many vacationers have found, different penalties for short and long stays.
My Host did not inform me of very important information since I gave him the opportunity to respond about my "Long Stay" how it would impact my vacation, the distance to stores, lack of, and cost of transportation, remoteness of the property, etc. The condo was also not equipped for a long stay rental, which he had plenty of time to correct, regarding suitable refridgeration. I cancelled after enduring 9 days, and was charged a full months rent of 1221.00 then another unauthorized charge of 445.00 which I want refunded.
Airbnb has an "extenuating circumstance" clause that I could not use, since it states a death must occur, this is quite harsh in my opinion. Do you agree?
Product or Service Mentioned: Airbnb Apartment Rental.
Reason of review: Return, Exchange or Cancellation Policy.
Monetary Loss: $455.
Preferred solution: Full refund.
I didn't like: Airbnb contract is overly biased in favor of airbnb.
