Airbnb - FRISCO cOLORAD
Rented from Joelle Mathiot….she had cameras in and out of residence. She violated Colorado State laws as well as privacy laws....without permission she billed the credit card balance was paid in full of front and without cause demanded that my child leave.
Airbnb was absolutely no help and the customer service was located somewhere over seas with people that were very hard to understand at best...….Please send a strong message to Airbnb by never ever using their service.
Those of you that love Airbnb do so because you have never had an issue. They are absolutely the worst and told us on the phone that it is never their problem as they are simply the intermediary...…….In 25 years of travel I have never had an issue with VRBO who will step in and help if there is an issue...…….
Reason of review: airbnb violated Colorado state law as did the landlord.
Monetary Loss: $1500.
Preferred solution: Full refund.
Airbnb Pros: Never ever ever use again contemplating legal action.
Location: Carmel, Indiana

The 5th District County Court in Colorado heard this case on April 1, 2019. There were no cameras inside and the court ruled that the guest actually owed the landlord host $2,000+. The court awarded the landlord damages that were paid by the guest, Sophia Silcox #Sophia #Silcox.
Summit County Colorado Court finds that #Airbnb host's efforts to mitigate damages caused by Airbnb guest, Sophia Silcox, overstay "were hampered by Airbnb" Damages were awarded to landlord/host in addition to court costs against Sophia Silcox. http://mountain-side.com/owners/?p=2339
This complaint was litigated, the poster, Sophia Silcox, was sued and the poster was ruled against in court. The 5th District of Colorado County Court, Summit County, Colorado ruled in favor of the landlord and against the poster, Sophia Silcox.
The landlord was awarded damages and a judgement against Sophia Silcox.
Summit County Court Case Number: C591****C1 This pissedconsumer.com complaint is libelous, slanderous and false. This post and resulting litigation have been reported to pissedconsumer.com and should be taken down immediately to avoid damages caused by pissedconsumer.com allowing the post to remain.
Agreed....
That's a good point. If the site publisher is aware, they have exposure to liability if they do not mitigate the exposure.
Wow, just read the judgement. The landlord received damages from #AirBnb AirBnB and from #SophiaSilcox Sophia Silcox.
Not just that but the landlord was also awarded court costs. When is the last time you've seen anyone get awarded court costs? How on earth is Sophia Silcox still allowed to have an active account on AirBnB?
What happens when she does this to another host? That's the definition of crazy.
Johnroberts EnragedFennecFox745 What's the Court, Case Number and Hearing Date? I'll keep tabs and post both side's arguments and results. Thank you
FLGator79 and johnroberts - Frisco, CO is in Summit County so that would be Colorado's 5th Judicial District and court. Just keep checking the docket.
Johnroberts and EnragedFennecFox745 are the kids still in the condo? I can't imagine they would leave if their booking was solid and in force or that an eviction would even be pursued or allowed by a host if that was the case.
Like someone else said, airbnb hosts are in the hospitality business for profit.
Evictions aren't cheap and not fun for a host. I think the questions are coming up because your review and replies just don't sound logical.
My previous question has apparently been deleted for no good reason that I can find. I suppose PissedConsumer.com picks and chooses what they allow to be posted based upon their own best interest.
Now that my comment and questions have been deleted, I will try to rebuild the context paraphrasing from memory and ask again. johnroberts if I am remembering anything incorrectly, please correct me. I want to be accurate. In a previous comment by johnroberts that has now been deleted, johnroberts, I'm paraphrasing here from memory, said, among other very rude comments about the poster "Lady Renter", that there were 6 kids in the condo.
The 4.0GPA College Athlete girl who rented the condo plus 5 others. I asked the ages of the occupants. Johnroberts replied, and again I'm paraphrasing, as follows: The girl's age is 20 and the remaining 5 kids are age 20 to 23. He also expanded in his rude reply to "Lady Renter" that the 20 year old girl's alcohol consumption was limited to only 2 drinks in the evening because "she is not perfect" like the poster "Lady Renter" (he called her princess or something like that).
He did not mention the girl's mom as being one of the 6 occupants as he did earlier in the thread. My question about the mom arose only because she was mentioned as an occupant or guest by johnroberts earlier in the thread.
My deleted question was: Who is buying or supplying the 20 year old girl (and the other 20 year olds) her 2 alcoholic drinks in the evening. The mom?
Many comments and replies are now missing from this thread. Fortunately copies were saved. We'll re-post so that, in fairness to the subjects, all can see the context of the original thread.
Ahaha come on gape. This is a cat & mouse game in CO and everyone knows it.
Getting your grubs on a rental condo in breckenridge during the season is a gold mine and renting out floor space to lifties and instructors has been a running joke for as long as the ski area has been open. Landlords aren't all stupid. *** that landlord probably slept on more bootlegged ski condo floors in their 20's than they did beds. You just got caught and are pissed.
See what I did there? Pissed lols ;-)
Being in the vacation rental business I’ve seen this scenario play out several times. Parent rents home for teenage kid to use without the parent being present.
The event turns into a party with over occupancy, noise issues and complaints from neighbors about the activity.
Anyone in the hospitality industry is there to make money. You do not Throughout a paying customer and go through the headache of getting local law-enforcement and the court system involved just for the fun of it.
Gator no party no noises no complaints and 6 people at max ever in large 1 bedroom condo......landlord unresponsive and never returned call.....fyi she is so bad she is being dropped by Airbnb which by the way is the real story here everybody who loves them has never had an issue with the landlord, anyone you casually speak with that has had an issue says the exact same thing.....Aibnb has horrible over seas customer service and your complaint goes into a black hole....we spoke to the assistant to the coo at Airbnb and got absolutely no where...….disgusting company to say the least!!!!!
Thanks. How many individuals were on the #AirBnb reservation or booking?
I don't know about colorado but a lot of municipalities have ordinances limiting the number occupants, especially for short term and similar. Does that one?
The way you word the six people max ever sounds like you mean no more than six at any one time and it was a revolving door so during the course of the stay exactly how many people did come and go from the property. What was the age of the occupants and were all the occupants listed on the rental agreement. In my area it would be illegal to have six people staying in a one bedroom unit
she had people over for dinner and to watch some goofy movie not to spend the night and by the way it was a 42 day rental those people cam back over for dinner or something 2 other times so the six people comprised of her mother her brother and 2-3 friends not a sleep over and who would have a drug and booze party with their mom????????? for the last time the focus is how pathetic Airbnb is and mildly the psycho landlord Joelle Mathiot…...I am just waiting for one of you clowns to ask so what did they have for dinner because of my extensive experience in the renting arena blah blah blah they violated the curry law...……….Airbnb is the problem people focus!!!!!!
This is confusing. Where do her mother, brother and friends live?

It is an easy thing to call names; and the weapon of vituperation is generally used by those who lack brains for argument or are upon the wrong side.
I'm sorry johnroberts, also part of my confusion is what your relationship is to the OP EnragedFennecFox745 and the kids in the condo? Thank you.
