Airbnb Did Not Help Us After Cancelling Condo Reservation After Seeing It in Person for Less than 5 Minutes

After hours of being delayed with our check in to a Toronto condo, it was apparent why. The "painters" had just finished hacking away through a quick paint job as we were waiting in the lobby! The walls were still wet with paint, the paint odour and humidity in the condo were unbearable, the light switches had been painted over, painting was done AROUND the wall pictures (yes around!), the stove and oven were filthy, dirt was in various corners, closet door was missing, etc. The host never showed up - simply instructed us when the unit was available. After entering the condo we took pictures and immediately left. We informed the host and Airbnb of this. The host refunded less than half of our payment but was not willing to refund the remaining 60%. Over to Airbnb. It was a waste of time - over a period of several weeks and indications that it appeared we were entitled for a full refund. However, the host refused to cooperate and Airbnb simply stated we needed to give the host time to fix the deficiencies before we checked out. What a copout! Airbnb - we will never use your service again and we will spread the word about the unfair treatment of these guests.
